Somewhere back in the dawn of time the Boon & Breg company was founded by Joh. Boon on the Hoofdstraat in Bovenkarspel. Boon senior came into contact with tulip forcing in 1960 through the greenhouse of the former experimental garden there.
After the parcellation, the company moved to its current location in Andijk in 1979. at the time, the company was occupied with the cultivation of 8 ha of tulips.
In 1985 the mobile greenhouse was replaced by the first Venlo greenhouse for the forcing of 0.5 million tulips.
The original family business has since grown into a modern, dynamic company specialized in tulips. Today, a total of about 50 million flowers pass through the gates and about 90 ha of tulip bulbs are grown in the Netherlands under the leadership of John Boon and Maarten Breg.
